Andrea was joined by Derek Butler of MRSA Action UK to teach over two hundred pupils at East Ardsley Primary School about hand hygiene today.
Delivered as part of the Handz campaign to promote good hand hygiene, the session took the pupils through the technique of good hand washing, and talked about the risks that bad hand hygiene can carry.
To demonstrate the ease with which an infection can be passed around a group, the pupils passed a football from one side of the room to the other. They were all shocked when they realised that if one person in the room hadn’t washed their hands they would all now have their germs!
Speaking after the session Andrea said:
“I’m passionate about hand hygiene, so having the chance to teach the children at East Ardsley the messages of good hand hygiene was fantastic.
“The children were incredibly engaged and well-behaved, and I hope they’ll now take these messages back home and spread the word.”
