On Saturday morning Andrea Jenkyns MP, Morley and Outwood joined Wrenthorpe Environmental Society for litter picking in Wrenthorpe Park.
The Wrenthorpe Environmental Society relies on the community to make them aware of litter hotspots so that they can mobilise volunteers to tackle it together. Like many areas in Andrea’s constituency litter is an issue, the majority of litter on the streets comes from wrappers and drinks containers.
Andrea joined over 50 volunteers for the litter pick including council candidate Samantha Harvey for Wrenthorpe and Outwood West and Yorkshire and Humber MEP Amjad Bashir.
Andrea said:
“We filled several bags with rubbish that had been carelessly discarded around the park, it is such a shame that people throw rubbish on the ground instead of disposing of it properly.
“I was pleased to see so many people on a wet and windy day making the effort to clean up a beautiful local area and take pride in their community."
