Conservative Party Conference 2013

At Party Conference this year, I had many events and meetings lined up, which included meeting with charities to discuss how I may be able to help. I also had the opportunity of meeting with our Prime Minister David Cameron and was able to discuss with him constituency matters and highlight key concerns.

Fellow PPC Anne-Marie Trevelyan and I were also fortunate to accompany the PM to hear the Chancellor George Osborne’s speech.  I believe that we have a lot to be thankful for; after inheriting an economy that had faced the worst peacetime recession, things are on the up, the Conservative led government are creating jobs and wealth;  jobs are up, construction up, manufacturing up, retail sales up, and business confidence up, all this whilst cutting the deficit.  This proves that despite what other parties may claim, the conservatives are the truly the party of business.

With this knowledge in tow it enabled me to have that extra confidence in speaking at a fringe event for the Centre for Small Business. This is a new Think Tank that defends the interests of SMEs.  I believe that we need to support such organisations as small businesses do need our support and we must do all we can to nurture them and continue to show that we are listening.
