Andrea Jenkyns successfully establishes the Morley and Outwood Business Association (MOBA)

On Thursday 20th February, the minister for housing at the Department for Communities and Local Government Kris Hopkins MP, together with local businesses and local politicians celebrated the launch of MOBA.

Andrea Jenkyns, the Conservative Parliamentary candidate for Morley and Outwood was able to bring local businesses and senior political figures together to discuss concerns they have. With the ultimate aim of encouraging further business growth in Morley and Outwood, which would lead to the creation of more jobs for the local residents. She explained ‘‘I have visited many businesses in the area and it is clear that, at times, the actions of local and central government raises issues of concern for them. It is also clear that too often they feel powerless to get anything done; this is an historic problem’’.

To help do something about this, Miss Jenkyns established the business association to ensure that all the businesses in the area could communicate their views directly to local and national politicians.

Andrea commented “I wanted to create a platform in which businesses can network, share best practive and truly have a voice. I want our guest speakers to actively engage with businesses rather than being talked at. I would like to thank Kris Hopkin's who spent time talking with all those who attended and for all those who attended from right across the constituency.”

Kris Hopkins MP officially launched the association and said ‘‘It is a great idea to be able to organise an association such as this, not only where local businesses can network with one another but, where politicians can give support and advice to encourage local growth’’.

The MOBA launch attracted local political leaders and many local businesses, as well as national companies operating within Morley and Outwood.

The Morley and Outwood Business Association will now meet every two months and have key political figures to ensure that the views of local businesses are heard and supported by local and central government. Our next meeting will be on the 14th April.
