Having been involved in recruiting, training and managing large teams for nearly twenty years, Andrea wanted to use the skills she gained in her career to help support local job seekers. She has organised a series of sessions in collaboration with the local Job Centre in Morley to support those looking for work in our area.
Andrea cares deeply about wanting to help get people into work as she understands how both a good education and getting a job can lift people out of poverty and give them a better life and she has organised several initiatives and events over the last year in support of job seekers. These include organising a Jobs Fair that was attended by over 300 people, holding training sessions and tips on finding employment in the Job Centre Hub event in October and at Positive People Recruitment and the Chamber of Commerce jobs fair event this month.
Last week she held a 'Step Into Work' session in the Morley Job Centre and is doing the same this Friday. The session includes, •Interview Techniques •Interview Preparation •CV Check – Is your CV fit for purpose? And also •Mock Interviews. Andrea also talked candidly about periods in her life when she was also a jobseeker and other challenges that we face. Last week’s session was very kindly supported by Warren from the fantastic local recruitment agency, Positive People Recruitment and local businessman Ryan Maylk.
