On Wednesday 12th November, Andrea Jenkyns, the Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Morley and Outwood participated in the ‘Leeds Hub’ event by holding mock job interviews and CV preparation with local jobseekers. She was asked to get involved following a discussion with the Job Centre when they exhibited at Andrea’s recent Jobs Fair in Morley, and due to her twenty years background in management in which she has conducted a considerable amount of job interviews over the years.
The Hub ran from 10am to 3pm in the Jobcentre at Eastgate, Leeds and was aimed at supporting all age groups who are on Jobseekers Allowance who live in the Leeds and Morley area and are currently not in employment. They had the chance to meet employers, employment advisers and agencies, as well as taking part in CV and interview preparation.
Andrea’s said, “I was delighted to be asked to get involved in this worthwhile event. It was organised and very well attended and those I spoke to said they found it very useful. It was a good opportunity to not only use my interviewing experience that I have gained over the years, to help others, but to also speak to jobseekers on a one to one and hear of their views.”
“Following this event, it has made me even more determined to further support those who are looking for work. I organised the jobs fair in October; I will now look at ways in which I can organise events that offer advice such as career guidance through to business start-up. Now 73.1 per cent of people in Morley& Outwood are in work, which higher than the Yorkshire and the Humber average of 72.1 per cent and I would like to do all I can to build on this.”
