Andrea has welcomed a 50% fall in the number of Jobseekers Allowance claimants in Morley and Outwood since August 2010.
Figures released yesterday show the number of people across the constituency receiving the out of work benefit has fallen by 934 since the previous Government came into office in August 2010. A third of this fall was between August 2014 and August 2015.
This is a rate of 1.7%, well below the average across Yorkshire and the Humber of 3.1%, and the UK-wide figure of 2.5%.
Figures also show that wages have risen 2.9%, with a total employment rate across the country of 73.5%.
Andrea said:
“These figures clearly show that more and more people are moving off out of work benefits and benefitting from the security of a regular wage.
“Local businesses in Morley and Outwood are growing, and it’s great to hear so many more people are going out to work.”
