It was an honour to take part in my first Remembrance Sunday as Member of Parliament for Morley and Outwood.
I started the day in Churwell, which was very well attended despite inclement weather.
After that I went on to the Morley service, which saw a huge turnout of local people honouring the memory of the fallen, our veterans and our serving Armed Forces.
This was the third time I have attended the parade in Morley and I continue to be astounded by the turn-out and support from the local community.
In the afternoon I went to Tingley for their service. Unfortunately I was not able to attend all the services around the constituency, but I am very thankful to my team, who laid wreathes on my behalf; Samantha in Wrenthorpe and Kirkhamgate and Ollie in Outwood.
I intend to attend as many of these services around the constituency as possible over the next five years. Our area does our servicemen and women proud and God bless all who fought for us.
Thank you also to Jonathan Chapman for the wonderful photographs of the day.
Before the services on Friday night I was honoured to be asked to sing “Requiem For a Soldier” at Morley’s Festival of Remembrance. The whole evening was an incredible tribute to those who have fought and died for our country.
