Andrea was delighted to welcome three sixth-form students from local schools to her Constituency Office for a week of work experience. This followed on from her first event in August, where she hosted two local students.
Joining her team for the week were Liam Atack from Outwood Grange Academy, Joe Blackburn from Morley Academy and Matthew Gannon from Woodkirk Academy.
All three were keen to learn more about the work of an MP, both in the constituency and in Westminster. Their duties included conducting research, drafting press releases, responding to constituents’ queries and accompanying Andrea to meetings and a surgery.
Speaking at the end of the week, Matthew said, "Before I went I thought I'd be behind the scenes and doing mock tasks that wouldn't be used. However in reality everything I did was productive and useful. It has been a great experience and insight into the surprisingly enjoyable life as part of an MP’s administrative team".
Andrea said: "It was a real pleasure to have three talented and enthusiastic young people working alongside me and my team for the week. I was really impressed with the skills and knowledge displayed by Liam, Joe and Matthew and can honestly say that they made a really valuable contribution during their short time with me."
