Silcoates School politics students had the chance to put questions to their local MP on Friday as Andrea paid a visit to their Sixth Form.
Led by the Head of the Government and Politics Department Tom Verinder, the group asked incisive and insightful questions on topics ranging from tax credits to tuition fees and the National Health Service.
The group was particularly interested in Britain’s relationship with the European Union following the release of the Prime Minister’s letter of demands to European Council President Donald Tusk.
Andrea re-iterated the Prime Minister’s commitment to holding a referendum before 2017 and the four key areas of the renegotiation; economic governance, competitiveness, sovereignty and immigration.
After the session student Joseph Brady said:
“I thought there were many insightful and thought-provoking answers from an outstanding MP.
“I am confident that she will prove to be a great figure in British politics.”
Andrea said:
“I was impressed with the students’ enthusiasm for politics and the depth and breadth of their questioning.
“It looks like the next Jeremy Paxman could be lurking within Silcoates Sixth Form!”
