Andrea at the opening

Two entrepreneurial women got some enthusiastic support and sound business advice when Andrea stopped by to declare their new joint venture officially open.

Master nail technician Diane Cooper and senior hairstylist Michelle Clarke have launched Cooper & Clarke Elegance after their new premises on Potovens Lane, Wakefield underwent a £30,000 makeover. MP Andrea Jenkyns, who is no stranger to running her own business, jumped at the opportunity to spend some time in the chair and share her own experiences of self-employment.

“Setting up your own business is a challenging and rewarding journey that I wish them every success in,” she said. “The salon is a testament to the time and thought that has gone into planning and creating an environment where you can feel truly relaxed and pampered.”

Making the leap into becoming business partners was daunting, but really exciting according to Diane and Michelle who are now so inspired they already have plans to develop the business even further.

“As soon as we saw the premises we knew it was the perfect place to launch Elegance,” explained Diane Cooper. “There is so much scope for on-going expansion and new treatments and services are set to be added in the near future.”

A ‘Champer Pamper Suite’ will open during the next six months to meet the growing demand from wedding parties and groups of friends who want to stay together whilst enjoying hair and beauty treatments and pamper sessions.

Andrea said:

“I know the hard work and commitment involved to make a success of running your own business. It is fantastic to see people making their dreams a reality.”
